What is an "electronically served document"? Is there an original?
Updated 2026-09-19
Some incorporation cases are filed through the one-stop online portal. Once the tax ID is issued, the Ministry of Economic Affairs or city government issues the approval letter and registration form (or business registration transcript for a business) as an "electronic document", which has the same force as an original. Seals and stamps on the registration form may appear in black and white; this does not affect use. We print the electronic document and registration form and mail them to you with the other incorporation papers.
If an organization asks "is there an original?", you can explain:
- The grey text at the top of the letter, registration form or transcript states that electronically served documents have the same effect as paper: for companies, Article 10 of the Regulations on Electronic Application and Electronic Service of Company Registration; for businesses, Article 2-1 of the Business Registration Application Regulations.
- The barcode at the bottom right can be scanned by banks and other organizations that have applied to the Ministry of Economic Affairs for verification access; most banks already have it.
- If they still have doubts, they can contact the officer named at the top right of the letter.
